MATATU EXPLOSION IN NAIROBI’S EASTLEIGH

The normal peace and buzzing of activities at Nairobi’s Eastleigh, a predominantly Somali residential and a giant commercial hub, was suddenly, yesterday punctuated after a passenger minibus which ply the eastleign route ripped of; as a result of a grenade detonation.

Immediately after the incident, the kenya security officials had an extra job of dispersing an angry mob at the scene which resorted at assaulting the ethnic Somalis in the area; riding on the preconception that the Somalis are in cahoots with the unkown assailants that have of lately, been conducting spiral terror attacks in the country.

Area legislator Yussuf Hassan condemned the act ,and urged the residents to live in harmony and avoid speculations and ethnic and religion profiling.

24 casualties have since been confirmed by the Kenya red cross and are presently under specialized treatment at the Kenyata national hospital.

Preliminary reports from eye witnesses at the scene indicated that a grenade attack was hurled at the minibus, minutes before it exploded.
